DGP Suresh Arora on Sunday held a meeting with senior police officials of the border zone, including IG SPS Parmar, Amritsar (Rural) SSP Parampal Singh and Tarn Taran SSP Darshan Singh Mann. He was accompanied by DGP (Law and order) HS Dhillon.
DGP Arora expressed concern over the rising incidents of crime, especially robberies, thefts and snatchings in the state which has led to widespread resentment among the people. Many tourists, including foreign nationals, have become targets of snatchers. He asked the officers to nail the criminals.
Appreciating the police officials of Amritsar rural and Tarn Taran, he honoured them for their commendable service in the line of duty.
SSP Parampal Singh said the district police had achieved a great success by busting an inter-district carjacking gang and arresting proclaimed offenders.
The DGP honoured SP (investigation) Harpal Singh, DSP (jandiala) GS Sahota, Ravinder Singh, in-charge CIA staff, SHO (Mehta police station) Amandeep and one constable, he said. He informed that the DGP promoted two head constables to the rank of ASI. SI Sukhraj Singh and SHO of Chohla Sahib police station were also honoured.
