Technology came to rescue of city youngsters, who could not make it to home on the occasion of Father’s Day on Sunday. Though physical presence can’t be compensated, these young minds feel that the use of online services, including video calls and messages, serves the purpose up to some extent. Apart from social networking, people also order gifts online to give pleasant surprises to their loved ones.

Jatin Narula, who has been living in Mumbai for his studies for the last two years, said, “I come home after six months. Being close to my father, I wanted to make the occasion special for him so I ordered a card to convey my feelings.”

Neha Saxena, who works with an MNC in Noida, wanted to make his father surprise as she wasn’t with him for the first time. “I have been living in Noida for the last 10 months. I started my day by wishing him through a video call, followed by sending him online cards. For people who stay away from their homes, such facilities often provide us an outlet.”

Besides, many people took to social media to express their regard for their fathers.

Still there were some who managed to reach home and spend the day with their fathers. Upneet Kaur, a lecturer at the meritorious school, who belongs to Jalandhar, said, “My sister lives in Canada. I wanted to make it a memorable day. Being a holiday, I reached home and celebrated the day.”
