With already at least two cases registered against her for duping people on the pretext of running an illegal immigration firm, the police have booked travel agent Padmani Khanna of Vagabands Immigration Consultancy in a third case.
A fresh case has been registered at Lopoke police station on the complaint of Gursevak Singh (24) of Kohala village. In the complaint to police, Gursevak said Padmani had taken Rs 4.5 lakh each from him and his cousin for sending them to Canada on a student visa.
The case was registered after enquiry by SP (investigation) and Padmani Khanna along with one of her employees Resham Singh under Section 420, IPC.
As per the information available on the website of district administration, the consultancy run by Khanna has not been granted license to operate. Earlier, two cases of duping persons on the pretext of sending them abroad were registered by the Civil Lines police station.
In the first case registered in January this year, Padmani Khanna alongwith her father Raman Khanna of Gali no 7, Ranjit Vihar Loharka road was booked for duping one Gurdevpreet Singh of Patti of Rs 1.72 lakh on the pretext of sending him to Austria.
In the second case registered on February 2, this year, Padmani and Resham Singh were booked for duping Vishal Kumar of Rs 3.70 lakh on the pretext of sending him to Singapore on a work permit.
While talking to The Tribune, Gursevak said he had met Padmani at a gurdwara around three months ago when she had lured by promising to send him to Canada. — TNS
