The Chheharta police have booked around 12 persons on charges of criminal trespass and attempt to murder after they entered into a house, ransacked it and thrashed the owner, identified as Sahil. He was rushed to the Emergency Ward of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital.

A dispute over a mobile phone was the reason behind the incident. Among those arrested include Sikander Singh and Jimmy, both residents of Khushipur village, and Kamal of Rajasansi. Besides, the police have booked around 10 unknown persons in the case.

A kabaddi player, Ajay Pal Singh, brother of the victim, stated to the police that he used to practise at Khalsa College where he came into contact with the accused, Sikander Singh.
