Amritsar: Two separate incidents of thefts were reported in the city in the past 24 hours.



Amritsar: Two separate incidents of thefts were reported in the city in the past 24 hours. In the first incident, some unidentified miscreants stuck at a house at Sultanwind Road on Friday night and decamped with cash and valuables. Kushdeep Singh, the owner of the house, stated in his complaint at the Sultanwind police station that when they woke up in the morning, they found a grill in the house was lying broken.They found the thieves had stolen two gold chains, one pair of ear-rings, two gold rings, two other ear-rings, Rs 1,500 and an old camera from the almirah. The Sultanwind police has registered a case under Sections 380, 457, IPC. In another incident, some thieves stole valuables from a house at Preet Avenue on Majitha Road. Jagdish Kaur, owner of house, said the accused entered the house at midnight and stole cash and gold. A case has been registered at the Kambo police station. TNS

Truck driver nabbed with sand

The rural police arrested a truck driver for ferrying illegal sand in the Kathunagal area. The accused has been identified as Hardeep Singh of Tarsika village. ASI Harjit Singh from the Kathunangal police station stated that the police got a tip-off from sources that the accused had been ferrying illegal sand. A police team laid a naka and arrested the accused. A case under Section 21 of the Mining Act has been registered against the accused. TNS
