Amritsar, September 30

The Regional Plant Quarantine Station celebrated the valedictory ceremony of the Hindi fortnight (Pakhwada), which started from September 14 and concluded here today.

Dr Dinesh Chandra Rajak, joint director (E) and in-charge, presided the function. The programme was managed by Dr Anil Sehajpal, plant protection officer and presented by Dr Neelam Maurya, senior research fellow.

All office employees, research associates and fellows participated in a Hindi essay writing competition held to commemorate the fortnight. A poetry and speech competition was also organised during the Hindi fortnight. It was also decided to award winners of various competitions.

While stressing on the need to promote Hindi among professional organisations, Dr Rajak said such celebrations and competitions would help in successful implementation of the official language policy.

“All members are encouraged and motivated to work together in Hindi,” he said. All staff members of the station contributed in accordance to the official language policy of the nation and helped motivate people.
