Woman raped, 1booked

AMRITSAR: The Mehta police have booked Mehar Singh of Bhoma village for allegedly raping a married woman.

The Mehta police have booked Mehar Singh of Bhoma village for allegedly raping a married woman. The victim stated to the police that the incident occurred on November 21. However, she lodged a complaint with the police only yesterday.

She stated that in the wee hours on November 21, she was going to Beas Hospital for taking medicine. She was at the Mehta bus stand when the accused came on a motorcycle. On the pretext of giving her a lift, he took her to Gaggarbhana village canal and raped her. He threatened her of dire consequences, if she told about the incident to anyone. She said she got afraid. Her husband was a driver and worked outside Punjab. When he came home recently, she narrated to him the entire incident and after this she lodged a complaint with the Mehta police. TNs
