Youth booked for causing miscarriage

AMRITSAR: The Amritsar rural police have booked Ramandeep Singh, son of Satinder Singh of Roorewal village, for allegedly causing miscarriage of a women, marrying her and later dumping her.

The Amritsar rural police have booked Ramandeep Singh, son of Satinder Singh of Roorewal village, for allegedly causing miscarriage of a women, marrying her and later dumping her.

The 21-year-old victim lodged a complaint with the police after the accused walked out on her in a rented accommodation. She stated to the police that she had an affair with Ramandeep Singh, who entered into physical relations with her after promising to marry her.

She alleged that around three months ago, she became pregnant and when he came to know about this, he forced her to abort the child. When her condition deteriorated, the accused married her on September 11, fearing criminal action against him. She said they lived in a rented accommodation for two-three days and Ramandeep Singh later fled after dumping her. 

The police have registered a case under Sections 313 (causing miscarriage without a woman’s consent), 420 (cheating) of the IPC against him, following a preliminary probe. The police authorities said that raids were being conducted to arrest the culprit who had been evading arrest.
