Youth dies in Dubai, cremated today

AMRITSAR: A pall of gloom descended on Mudhal village today when its native Jagbir Singh’s body reached here today.

Amritsar, June 22

A pall of gloom descended on Mudhal village today when its native Jagbir Singh’s body reached here today. He had gone to Dubai in search of greener pastures around 11 years ago and died on May 28.

His family members were unable to bear the expenditure of bringing his body back. They had urged the External Affairs Ministry to come to their rescue. 

Sarbat Da Bhala Trust chairman and social activist Dr SP Singh Oberoi intervened  and used his influence in the Arabian country to get the document formalities completed in a couple of days.

Jagbir Singh’s body arrived at Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport, Rajasansi, this morning. His relative Prabhjit Singh expressed gratitude towards Dr Oberoi. Jagbir Singh was cremated at his native village this morning. 

Sukhjinder Singh, Majha Zone president of the trust, and general secretary Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu said till now the trust had managed to bring back the bodies of 45 youths who had died in Dubai at various times and due to different reasons.
