A total of 12 items on agenda will be tabled at the General House meeting of the Municipal Corporation (MC), Bathinda. The meeting is scheduled to be held here tomorrow, a day before Diwali. It is expected that all items will be approved.

Apart from notifying the land for installing a CSD waste plant at a cost of Rs 1 crore at Growth Center, a proposal for charging registration fees on keeping pet animals, including dogs, cats and cows, in the area that comes under the MC is the item included on the agenda.

It is learnt that many councillors may stage a protest at the meeting. Mayor Balwant Rai Nath today held a pre-agenda meeting with councillors, in which he listened to their grievances and assured of resolving them at the earliest.

SAD-BJP councillors, along with Senior Deputy Mayor Tarsem Goyal and MC Commissioner Sanyam Aggarwal, were present at the pre-agenda meeting.

It has come to light that councillors are upset with the MC Commissioner, due to which their issues were listened. The councillors were assured that their issues would be listened on a priority basis in future.

A discussion on the proposal for the registration fees for keeping pet animals was held on the occasion. Most of the councillors lodged their protest on the issue.

Giving the reference of the state government, the permission to table the proposal for the registration fees at the meeting has been given for the discussion.

Even the LED project was been discussed and MC officials told the councillors that if 25,000 street lights were converted into LED, the MC would be able to save money.

The objective of the pre-agenda meeting was to convince the councillors that they do not stage a protest at tomorrow’s meeting.
