2 inmates released on probation

BATHINDA: District and Sessions Judge Paramjeet Singh, along with Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Amita Singh, who is also the secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bathinda, today visited the Central Jail.

District and Sessions Judge Paramjeet Singh, along with Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Amita Singh, who is also the secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bathinda, today visited the Central Jail.

Other officials who also visited the jail were Additional District Judges Parminder Pal Singh and Baljinder Sidhu; Additional Civil Judge (Senior Division) Varun Nagpal; and CJM Vikrant Kumar.

They visited almost all blocks — including hospital, factory, rehabilitation centre, female ward and sports centre - of the jail.

Paramjeet Singh also visited the high security cell where he interacted with prisoners and asked about the problems being faced by them.

Amita Singh also held a camp court in the Jail wherein the CJM listened to undertrials, who were willing to confess their crimes. Of them, two inmates were released on probation on the spot.

Besides, an interview of the candidates for para legal volunteers was also conducted during the visit. — TNS
