Bathinda: The Bathinda Sadar police on Thursday booked 19 persons for assaulting a person at Behman Diwana village. In a complaint lodged by Ranjeet Singh, a resident of Behman Diwana village, it has been alleged that Baljeet Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Shamsher Singh, Babbu Singh, residents of Khemuana village, along with 15 unidentified persons assaulted him and his nephew Baljinder Singh over an land dispute. A case under Sections 447, 511, 506, 336, 148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered against the accused. The Rama police have booked two persons in an assault case. In a complaint lodged by Rajwinder Singh, a resident of Phullo Khari village, it has been alleged that Jasveer Singh and Lakhvir Singh, residents of Phullo Khari village, assaulted him over a land dispute. A case under Sections 323, 324, 427 and 34 of the IPC has been registered at the Rama police station. In another complaint, Paramjeet Kaur, a resident of Pakka Kalan village, it has been alleged that Parminder Singh, Buta Singh and two unidentified persons assaulted her and her mother-in-law Harmeet Kaur over an old dispute. A case under Sections 452, 323, 427 and 34 of the IPC has been registered at the Rama police station. No accused has been arrested yet. TNS

Bathinda: The Rampura (City) police on Thursday booked a person for selling fake detergent powder. The police, along with officials of a company, conducted a raid at Sadar Bazaar in Rampura and recovered six bags of fake detergent powder. A case under Section 63 of the Copyright Act has been registered against Tejinder Kumar Goyal, a resident of Gandhi Market, on the basis of the statement of Pankaj Gupta, official of Tide detergent powder company. The police team conducted a raid as the company official received a tip-off that the accused was making fake detergent powder. TNS

Bathinda: In order to tackle the menace of Blue Whale game, Adesh University, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Dr GPI Singh, organised a series of awareness programme for its students in various constituent colleges. The programme taught the students how to help themselves and others who are entrapped in the game and cleared many myths about it. The faculty and students should keep an eye on the potential victims and should help in curbing the menace. TNS
