Bathinda, April 16

Municipal Corporation Bathinda (MCB) Commissioner Rishi Pal Singh has appointed 33 nodal officers for 50 wards for all-around development of the city. These include an XEN, SDO, JE, Superintendent, Building Inspector, Sanitary Inspector and Supervisor.

This has been done so that small or big problems of the areas could be resolved by these appointed nodal officers and residents are not made to run from pillar to post for getting works done.

These nodal officers would supervise their areas and would give a report regarding problems of their ward to the Commissioner, which would be reviewed by the Commissioner himself every week. It will be the duty of the nodal officers to make sure that his ward is cleaned daily and garbage is collected from houses and lifted from the ward. Apart from this, they would also work for the recovery of property/house tax and sewerage/water bills from their areas in the city.

The nodal officers would also check works of MCB workers in the wards regarding sanitation, bad roads, filling potholes, removing encroachments, desilting of sewerage, sewerage blockage, park maintenance, street lights repair and water supply problems.

The Commissioner has also constituted a three-member committee, which would visit other cities and would try to emulate good works done there. The members included in this team are SDO Rajinder Kumar, JE Jatin Kansal and sanitary inspector Suman Kumar.

Even JE Jatin Kumar has been assigned the task of checking the public toilets in the city.

Commissioner Rishi Pal Singh has appealed to residents for their cooperation in the all-around development of the city. He has also instructed the nodal officers that in the coming days the MC will take door-to-door garbage work on its own so they should ensure door-to-door garbage collection work in their ward.
