4 snatchings in a week

Bathinda: Snatchers are active in the city.



Bathinda: Snatchers are active in the city. As many as four incidents of snatching were reported a week. Meanwhile, the police remain clueless. No culprits have been traced till now.

Snatchers are mainly active in the area under the Civil Lines police station from where three incidents were reported. Parveen Goyal, who lives opposite Tin Cinema, lost her chain to snatchers near Alankar Cinema. Sangeeta Sharma was targeted by snatchers near Guru Kaashi School. The culprits snatched her ear ring.

Besides the two incidents, three snatchings were reported in the Civil Lines police station area. In another incident, snatchers targeted Rani Kaur in Deep Nagar. A case was registered at the Canal Colony police station in this connection.

Lynching case: One surrenders

The main accused in a lynching case, Amrinder Singh Raju, a resident of Bhagi Vander village, surrendered to the police. Another 12 accused in the case are still absconding. Family members of the victim, Monu Arora, have threatened to hold a protest if the remaining accused were not arrested.

Husband, in-laws booked for woman’s murder

Official of the Dialpura police station have arrested the main accused, Gursewak Singh, who has been charged for murder of his wife Karamjeet Kaur at Kothe Guru Ka village. The police have also booked victim’s father-in-law Major Singh and mother-in-law Amarjeet Kaur. Both are absconding. Karamjeet was killed by her husband Gursewak on June 19 after a family dispute. A case was registered on the complaint of Jagseer Singh.

Villagers clash in Tiyona

Two groups clashed in Tiyona village over a dispute to give way. Cross case has been registered in this connection. Both the parties have levelled allegations against each other. The Bathinda Sadar police is investigating the matter.

Two booked for liquor smuggling

The Bathinda police is facing problem of liquor smuggling. Action has been take against the two contractors, who belong to Punjab, and has wine contracts in Haryana. Nand Kishore and Anil Kumar were booked by the police in this connection. Both have wine contracts in Haryana. TNS
