Five incidents of snatching and two thefts have been reported in the past 24 hours.
The police have started a probe after registering cases, but have failed to find the accused or any clue.
In the first incident, Veena Jindal, a resident of Phase-1 Model Town near Durga temple, lodged a complaint with the police that she was sitting outside her home around 11.30 am when two youths on a motorcycle came and snatched her gold chain.
The Cantonment police have started investigation in the matter.
In the second incident, Krishana Devi, a resident of Parjapat Colony near Naamdev road, was sitting with other women outside her home when two youths came on a motorcycle and snatched her gold chain.
Kuldeep Singh Bhullar, SHO of the Civil Lines police station, said they had started a probe and the accused would be held soon.
Another incident of snatching took place in Rampura city where two unidentified persons snatched a gold chain weighing 20 gm from a woman.
A case under Section 379-B of the IPC has been registered against unidentified accused on the complaint of victim Sheela Rani, a resident of Sarabha Nagar in Rampura Mandi.
Two unidentified persons snatched a gold chain of an NRI woman from Balla Ram Nagar. Kuldeep Kaur, a resident of Bank Colony, was going with Veerpal Kaur, her neighbor, for some work when two unidentified persons snatched her chain.
The Thermal police have started a probe in the case. In another incident of snatching, the police have arrested two persons.
In a complaint lodged by Raghbir Singh, a resident of Sikandarpura Mohalla, Bathinda, it has been stated that two unidentified persons snatched his mobile phone from Santpura road, when he was walking.
The Kotwali police have arrested Akash, a resident of Subash Nagar, and Vijay, a resident of Sanjay Nagar, and recovered the phone.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 379-B of the IPC at the Kotwali police station.
Unidentified persons stole Rs 15,000 cash and some costly material from a cash box of a temple situated near Amarpura road near the Orbit bus workshop. The Wardhman police have started a probe in the case.
In another case, unidentified persons stole material worth Rs 1 lakh and a cylinder from an anganwari centre situated at Baandi village.
The Sangat police have booked unidentified persons under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC on the complaint of Jasveer Kaur.
