The Congress announced all its 15 candidates who filed their papers in the presence of party leader Khushbaj Singh Jatana. All 15 candidates of the SAD-BJP alliance also filed their nominations while six candidates of AAP filed their nominations.

CPI (M) filed one nomination while 10 independents also filed their papers. The scrutiny will take place tomorrow while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is December 9.

The Congress candidates are Gurjinder Singh (Ward-1), Gurpreet Singh Manshahia (Ward-2), Gurmeet Kaur (Ward-3), Ajij Khan (Ward-4), Angrej Kaur (Ward-5), Lakhveer Singh (Ward-6), Karamjeet Singh (Ward-7), Mangu Singh (Ward-8), Anjana Rani (Ward-9), Navdeep Singh Goldy (Ward-10), Harbans Singh (Ward-11), Santosh Rani (Ward-12), Balkaran Singh (Ward-13), Gurmail Kaur (Ward-14) and Gurtinder Singh Rimpy (Ward-15).

Meanwhile, tension prevailed at the SDM office after AAP MLA Baljinder Kaur and Khushbaj Singh Jatana had an argument over the nomination of an AAP candidate.

It all started when AAP candidate (Ward-15) Dharma Singh reached the SDM office at 3 pm and he found some papers missing.

After a few minutes, he came back with the complete set of papers, but SDM Barinder Kumar refused to accept it stating that the time to file papers was over.

While Baljinder Kaur claimed that they stepped into the SDM office at 2.50 pm, Jatana opposed their move to file papers after the stipulated time. Heavy police force was deployed at the SDM office after the incident.
