Bathinda: The police have arrested eight persons who are among the 10 booked for possessing illicit liquor at different police stations in the district.



Bathinda: The police have arrested eight persons who are among the 10 booked for possessing illicit liquor at different police stations in the district. The Canal Colony police arrested Rajha Ram, a resident of Amarpura Basti, with 24 bottles of illicit liquor from a naka at Naruana Road, Bathinda. The Bathinda Sadar police arrested Gurbachan Singh, a resident of Beer Behman, with 5 drums of lahan and 60 litres of illicit liquor. The Maur police arrested Gora Singh, a resident of Maur Kalan, with 30 bottles of illicit liquor from Maur Charrat Singh village. The Sangat police arrested Jagan Nath, a resident of Chak Ruldu Singh Wala village, with 14 bottles of illicit liquor from his village. The Rama police arrested Sadhu Singh, a resident of Ghukianwali village (Haryana), with 12 bottles of illicit liquor from Ramsara village. The Nandgarh police arrested Hemraj, a resident of Ghudda village, with 60 bottles of illicit liquor. The Kotfatta police arrested Resham Singh, a resident of Gobindpura village and Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Khemuana village, with 36 bottles of illicit liquor from Kotfatta village. The Dialpura police have recovered 150 litres of lahan from Ghumati Kalan village and a case has been registered against Jasveer Kaur and Nayab Singh, residents of Dialpur Mirja village. The accused have been absconding. The accused have been booked under Excise Act.

Two booked for rape

Bathinda: The Dialpura police have booked two persons on the charge of raping a woman from Burj Rajgarh village. In a complaint lodged by the woman, it has been alleged that Gurjant Singh and Fauji, residents of the same village, entered her house on the night of June 21 at 3 am. By making her smell an anaesthetic substance, she got unconscious and the accused raped her, she added. A case has been registered against Gurjant Singh and Fauji under Sections of 376, 452 and 34 of the IPC on the basis of the complaint. TNS
