Bathinda, June 18

All seats for girls and boys at Government Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students, Bathinda, have been filled.

While Bathinda achieved the feat on Saturday, Ludhiana achieved it on Monday. All seats for girls have also been filled at Jalandhar, Patiala and SAS Nagar schools.

In the girls’ category, Amritsar has 54 vacant seats, Ferozepur has 240, Gurdaspur has 292, Sangrur has 201 while the Talwara school has 87 vacant seats.

The counselling for girls will continue on June 19 and 20 as girl candidates who had cracked the entrance exam are still coming for counselling.

In the boys’ category, Amritsar has 29 vacant seats, Ferozepur has 86, Gurdaspur has 133, Jalandhar and Patiala have four each, Sangrur has 29 and SAS Nagar school has 11 vacant seats.

The management information system (MIS) coordinator for Bathinda, Raminder Singh, said, “While the boys counselling has been completed, counselling session for girls is still on. If any boy or girl has missed their turn for counselling as they couldn’t reach the centre, can contact the centre and appear for counselling on June 19 and 20.”

Principal of the school, Ruby Gupta, said, “The meritorious school in Bathinda has been consistent in giving good results in Class XII. Since its inception, the students from the school have been making it to the merit list of the PSEB. This may be the reason for its popularity among students.”

She added that overall, Bathinda students had fared well in Class X examinations, better than earlier years, and a higher number of students cracked the entrance examination.

“This may have also led to early filling of all seats in the school,” she said.
