Bathinda, December 8
Bathinda girls displayed their sporting prowess and clinched the Under-19 handball tournament, which was being held in the city as part of the 63rd Punjab State School Games. Bathinda beat Patiala to win the tournament, which was being held at St Xavier’s School in Bathinda.
In the nail-biting final match played between Bathinda and Patiala, Bathinda finished first with the score of 15 as against Patiala’s 12. Pataila bagged the second place in the tournament. Amritsar and Moga, which had lost their semi final matches, fought for the third position. Amritsar managed to surge ahead with 14-10.
The tournament was organised as per the directions of District Education Officer (secondary) Maninder Kaur and the guidance of Assistant Education Officer (sports) Gurpreet Singh.
Also present on the concluding day of the tournament were St Xavier’s School principal Father Eulalio Fernandes, vocational coordinator Balraj Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Ramandeep Singh Gill, Devinderpal Singh, Harbhajan Das, Ikbal Singh, Sukhjinderpal Singh, nazar Singh, Harpret Singh, Pavittar Singh, Baltej Singh, Satindrpal Singh and others.
