Clean toilets at platforms, clean tracks and dustbins at stations were some of the criteria for judging railway stations.

This was the third survey on cleanliness done by the Railways to keep a tab on rail premises as part of its ‘Swachh Rail’ campaign.

Of the total 407 stations, 75 are in the A1 category or most busy stations and 332 are in the A category.

While the first position was secured by the Visakhapatnam railway station in the A1 category, the Beas railway station in Punjab came on top in the A category.

In the citizens’ feedback, which was taken from passengers, the Bathinda railway station received 290.6 marks.

Every passenger was asked to rate the cleanliness of stations objectively on 40 different cleanliness parameters.

The survey was conducted through interviews on cleanliness indicators, which was done face-to-face by survey teams.

Bathinda railway station superintendent Ramswaroop Meena said, “There were several other parameters on which we will improve. We are ranked first in our division and 57th in the country, which is a great achievement.”
