Body found

BATHINDA: The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Monday recovered the body of an elderly person at the railway crossing in Paras Ram Nagar. According to the police, the deceased died of cardiac arrest. The police have taken the body in custody. The deceased has been identified as Jaswant Singh (80), a resident of Jalandhar. The police found a passbook from the pocket of the deceased a list of some contacts. The police sent the body for post-mortem after initiating proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC. TNS

BATHINDA: The police on Monday recovered poppy husk from a car at a naka at the T-point on the Santpura road. Three persons carrying the contraband have been arrested. They have been booked under the NDPS Act at the Kotwali police station. The accused have been identified as Balkaran Singh, a resident of Janta Nagar and Beant Singh, a resident of Hardev Nagar, and Sanjeev Kumar. TNS
