The Criminal Investigation Agency-2 of the Bathinda police have recovered two buses with same number PB03-AP-3299 and arrested the owner, Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Gehri Bhagi village.

CIA in-charge Tarjinder Singh said the police got a tip-off about the transporter who was using one registration number for two different buses. While one bus being served for the Akal Academy in Baghi Bander area by the owner, the second bus with the same number was being used as passenger bus, which used to ply two- way from Bathinda to Bukianawali via Jassi Paun Wali, Gehri Bhagi, Mehta and Shergarh daily. The officer also said that no documents were recovered for the passenger bus.

On a query about the involvement of any transport official, Tarjinder said nothing could be said in a hurry and that everything would be cleared after the investigation. A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 420 and 473 of the IPC.

Joint State Transport Commissioner Sukhwinder Kumar said the department would hold an inquiry into the matter and requisite action would be taken. “If any of the officials of the Transport Department have any kind of involvement, action will be taken against him,” he said. The DTO, Bathinda, Mankawal Singh Chahal, was not available for call.
