BATHINDA: An unidentified person snatched a cellphone from a college student here on Tuesday afternoon. The incident took place when the victim was walking home after attending her college.



BATHINDA: An unidentified person snatched a cellphone from a college student here on Tuesday afternoon. The incident took place when the victim was walking home after attending her college. The police have failed to get any clue of the snatcher so far. Victim Khushi, a student of Government Rajindra College, told the police that when she reached the mini secretariat road, adjoining the college, a youth came on a motorcycle and snatched her cellphone. She said despite shouting, the snatcher managed to escape from the spot. After the incident, a PCR vehicle and a team of the bus stand police post reached the spot and started a probe into the incident. The police said efforts were on to identify the snatcher with the help of CCTV cameras installed nearby areas. TNS

Medical test fee set to go up

BATHINDA: The medical examination fee for renewing or applying new arms licence is set to increase from Rs 800 to Rs 1,500. Earlier, the fee was fixed at Rs 500. Now, the applicant will have to undergo 10 tests. Earlier, dope test, psychiatry test, physical and eye examination were required. Soon, arms licence applicants will have to undergo a full body test. Senior Medical Officer of the Civil Hopsital Sukhjinder Singh Gill said they were working on final modalities for implementing the new decision of state Health Secretary. He said the decision was likely to enforce from Thursday onwards. TNS
