City boy shines in Mumbai contest

BATHINDA: Bharat Ahuja, a third year student of the Department of Architecture at Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCET), has been declared the first runner-up of the ‘Vivek Punjabi Visions Award 2018’ held in Mumbai this week.

Bharat Ahuja, a third year student of the Department of Architecture at Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCET), has been declared the first runner-up of the ‘Vivek Punjabi Visions Award 2018’ held in Mumbai this week. The GZSCET is a constituent college of the state-run Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU).

The competition was for the best 3D visualisation work done by a student of architecture in India that was instituted by Dialogues India, conducted in the memory of Vivek Punjabi who set up Visions, India’s first professional 3D visualisation studio in 1994.

The jury of the competition also included India’s top architects — Sanjay Puri and Zarir Mullan. Over 500 entries were received by Dialogues India which were adjudged by the jury. The prize included a trophy along with a prize money of Rs 40,000 that was presented by Sanjay Puri.

Ripu Daman Singh, head of the department, applauded the feat of Bharat Ahuja and encouraged other students to participate in more competitions related to design and 3D visualisation.

While congratulating the student, MRSPTU Vice Chancellor Dr Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Registrar Dr Jasbir Singh Hundal and campus Director Dr Gursharan Singh appreciated the student for the success at national level.
