City-based lawyer Mohal Lal has lodged a complaint against officials of the Bathinda Development Authority (BDA) for providing space to Skyland Resorts for widening its entrance. Skyland Resorts situated on the Bir Talab road.

In his complaint, the advocate accused the officials of providing a piece of land in an illegal manner.

Earlier, the palace was sealed by the BDA for not fulfilling the norms and not having the necessary clearances on his complaint.

Apart from filing complaints with the police and the vigilance department in writing, Mohan Lal also met Vishavjit Khanna, Additional Chief Secretary, Urban and Housing Development, Punjab, in this regard.

Mohan Lal said the BDA had widened the Badal road after acquiring the agricultural land from a large number of villagers. He said the government proposed to build shops or SCFs on both sides of the road.

He said the marriage palace also does not have sufficient 80-feet wide road for its entrance. It is mandatory provision for a marriage palace to have 80-feet wide road so that fire tenders can pass through the entrance during any emergency situation, he added.

“The land which is not taken into possession is worth nearly Rs 2 crore and it is a loss to the state exchequer,” he added.

While talking to The Tribune, the Additional Chief Secretary said advocate Mohan Lal met him and submitted a complaint with documents. “We will look into the complaint. It will take 15 days to ascertain whether officials of our department are at fault or not,” he said. — TNS
