Union Cabinet Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today condemned the incident that took place in the Vidhan Sabha in which the turban of an AAP MLA was tossed.

The melee also involves misbehaviour with women MLAs during the session.

Harsimrat, who was here to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple today, viewed that the provocation was a deliberate attempt by the Congress government to shy away from replying on its ‘failure’ in fulfilling the pre-poll promises.

“It was a black day in the history of Punjab when the MLAs were mistreated on the directions of the Speaker. All happened in the presence of the Chief Minister. It was a frustrated move that was taken to suppress the voice of the Opposition. It was done as the Congress, which has failed to live up to the expectations of the people, has no excuses ,” she said.

Launching a scathing attack on Finance Minister Manpreet Badal and Tourism Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, she said one had drafted a Budget on a frivolous grounds by comparing farmers with beggars while the other had passed sarcastic and derogatory remarks on a Dalit MLA.

“I appeal to the people to gherao the Finance Minister or the Chief Minister and question them about the farm loans, which they had promised to waive, and the provision that was kept in the Budget to provide jobs to the unemployed,” she added.
