Bathinda, February 18
SSD Girls’ College celebrated its golden jubilee and organised a cultural programme to mark the occasion. Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal was the chief guest on the occasion.
The programme began with the lighting of the traditional lamp. Students of the college depicted the 50 years of the college through a choreography ‘Sunhari Safarnama’. This was followed by a dance presentation by students of the mathematics department, a choreography by the Punjabi language department on ‘Beti Bachao, Rukh Lagao, Pani Da Satkar Karo’, a play by the English language department based on Twinkle Khanna’s book ‘The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad’ and other items.
During the felicitation ceremony, the chief guest honoured 140 students of the college who excelled in NSS, Red Ribbon, NCC, Youth Club, Youth Parliament, youth festival activities, besides clearing the UGC NET and outstanding achievements in the academic and sporting fields.
Dr Savita Bhatia, head of the history department, was honoured for dedicating 25 years of her life to the college. Staff of the college was also felicitated.
The chief guest congratulated the college management, staff and all students on the achievement of the institutions and motivated the students to work hard and contribute their services towards the country.
SSD Sabha members Pramod Mittal, Somnath Baghla, Yashwant Rai Goyal, JK Gupta, Ajay Gupta and principal Dr Parminder Kaur Tanghi were also present.
