Duties assigned for Assembly elections

BATHINDA: The District Election Commission today assigned duties to conduct Assembly elections in all six constituencies of Bathinda.

The District Election Commission today assigned duties to conduct Assembly elections in all six constituencies of Bathinda. The commission has named poll staff, including presiding officers, returning officers and polling officers.

District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said as many as 6,873 employees have been assigned duties, including 1,582 presiding officers, 1,582 assistant presiding officers and 3,709 polling officers.

He said the process of filing nominations papers would start from tomorrow and the last date of filing nominations papers was 18 January. Thori said scrutiny of nominations paper would take place on January 19 and candidates could withdraw their candidature on January 21.
