BATHINDA: Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Muslims in the city on Saturday.

Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Muslims in the city on Saturday. Hundreds of Muslims offered Eid prayers at the mosques in the city.

Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal also participated in the festivities at the Haji Rattan mosque. Wishing the members of the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid, the minister reiterated that Muslims were an important part of India and its culture.

Much to the delight of all those present at the mosque, the minister announced a grant of Rs 25 lakh for the development, renovation and repair of the mosque.

He also took the opportunity to urge all to help the poor and the needy on the occasion of the festival to bring cheer and happiness in their lives as well.

IG Bathinda MF Farukhi also paid obeisance at the mosque. Also present on the occasion were Muslim Human Welfare Society chairman Jamil Ahmed, president Galim Khan, Dr Noor Mohammad, Shafi Mohammad, Congress leaders Mohal Lal Jhumba, KK Aggarwal, Rajan Garg, Pawan Mani, Sanjay Biswal, Jagtar Dhillon, JAsvir Dhillon, Harjot Singh Sidhu and others.
