Bathinda, April 16
Unidentified men killed a farmer on Sunday night at Mandi Kalan village with sharp-edged weapons and managed to escape.
The police have initiated a probe after registering a case against unidentified persons under Section 302 of the IPC at the Balianwali police station.
The deceased has been identified as Buta Singh (45). The accused entered into his house when the family, including wife and two children, were asleep.
Senior police officials of the CIA-2 wing, forensic unit and fingerprint experts reached the spot and started investigation after collecting samples.
According to deceased’s wife Sukhmander Kaur, she woke up on Sunday night only to find her husband killed.
She raised an alarm and called her relatives and neighbours. The police also questioned deceased’s brother Chamkaur Singh, who was at the grain market.
The police said there were injuries on Buta Singh’s head. According to villagers, Buta Singh was married to a widow, Sukhmandar Kaur of Mandi Kalan village, four years ago after the death of her first husband.
Sandeep Singh Bhati, SHO of the Balianwali police station, said a case had been registered and the accused would be nabbed soon. They have found some clue during interrogation, he added. — TNS
