The police have booked five persons on the charge of preparing fake certificates and degrees. The accused have been identified as Harsh, Davinder Kumar, residents of Bathinda; Ashok Kumar, a resident of Ellanabad; and Prince, a resident of Sirsa. Of the five accused, one is yet to be identified.

Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Bathinda, lodged a complaint with the police in this regard. He said the accused were operating a gang that used to prepare fake degrees and certificates.

According to the police, one of the accused runs a high school in Bathinda and they were influenced by him to run their illegal business.

Another accused runs an ILETS institute in the city and he offers certificates of Class X and XII or graduation degrees to students without appearing for exams.

As per sources, the accused used to sell fake certificates of Class X and XII for Rs 20,000 and graduation degrees for Rs 50,000.

The accused used to prepare an exact copy of certificates issued by a private Noida-based open school. However, it has been learnt that the school doesn’t have any link with the accused. But the police will investigate its role.
