Five held with illicit liquor

BATHINDA: The CIA-2 wing of the Bathinda police today recovered 39 boxes of illicit liquor from two cars in separate cases.

The CIA-2 wing of the Bathinda police today recovered 39 boxes of illicit liquor from two cars in separate cases. Two accused were arrested while three are absconding.

Two cases under the Excise Act have been registered at the Maur and Talwandi Sabo police stations.

Tarjinder Singh, in-charge of the CIA-2 wing, today said acting on a tip-off, a police party led by ASI Mohandeep Singh arrested Gursewak Singh, a resident of Maur Kalan, and Manpreet Singh, a resident of Maur Charat Singh. Both were coming in a Logan car (PB-65-R-9300) with 20 boxes of illicit liquor.

In another case, a team led by ASI Harinder Singh set up a naka at Bhagi Vander village. Two persons fled as they saw the police party and left a Maruti car (DL-3-CZ-2847).

During checking, the police team recovered 19 boxes of illicit liquor (Haryana made). The police team booked Krishan Singh and Gurpreet Singh, residents of Bhagi Vander village and both are absconding.

The Rampura Sadar police arrested Kewal Singh, a resident of Karaarwala village, with 30 lt of illicit liquor.

The Ballianwali police arrested Malkeet Singh, a resident of Jhanduke village, with 84 bottles of illicit liquor from his house.

The Rama police arrested Paala Singh, a resident of Chak Heera Singh Wala village, with 24 bottles of illicit liquor from Seikhu village and also recovered a motorcycle. — TNS
