District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Swapan Sharma today held a meeting with flying squads and static surveillance teams. These teams have been formed to ensure free and fair elections.
The teams have been directed to check all vehicles and act on complaints received regarding violation of code of conduct or law and order.
The static surveillance teams will be deployed at various check-points to keep a check on vehicles or any kind of smuggling, unlawful activity or any suspicious movement.
The flying squads will monitor the activities of miscreants and will act instantaneously on receiving any complaint regarding law and order or poll code violation.
One officer each in the teams have been given the power of an Executive Magistrate and required numbers of police personnel have been attached with the teams to help in compliance of law.
The SSP directed the teams to avoid traffic jams and un-necessary harassment to the public while checking the vehicles. He said the teams had been provided a videographer to record search and seizure operations.
