BATHINDA: The Bathinda police initiated the foot patrolling exercise in the city on Monday. The exercise will initially be carried out in the areas that come under Kotwali, Canal Colony, Civil Lines, Cantonment and Thermal police stations.

Bathinda: The Bathinda police initiated the foot patrolling exercise in the city on Monday. The exercise will initially be carried out in the areas that come under Kotwali, Canal Colony, Civil Lines, Cantonment and Thermal police stations. The exercise initiated from Fire Brigade Chowk. IG Mukhwinder Singh Chhina and SSP Naveen Singla were present on the occasion. Addressing the media, IG MS Chhinna said the foot patrolling exercise would be supervised by the SHOs of the police stations concerned. He said police personnel who would patrol on foot are to be equipped with walkie-talkie sets, fluoroscent jackets, torches, smartphones and sticks. TNS

Four booked for assault

Bathinda: The police have booked four persons for attacking a youth with rods and sticks. The accused have been identified as Dr Charna Singh, a resident of Seikhu, Mohanti Singh, Gora Singh and Gurbachan Singh, all residents of Tarkhanwala village. Complainant Sukhdeep Singh, a resident of Tarkhanwala village, told the police that he, along with his friend Harpreet Singh, was going to his house at Tarkhanwala village when four persons came in a Scorpio car and attacked Harpreet Singh with rods and sticks. The reason behind the attack is said to be a personal dispute between Harpreet and the accused. Police officer Makhan Singh said a case under Sections 341, 323 and 34 of the IPC had been registered against the accused at the Raman police station. TNS
