Four suicides reported in dist

BATHINDA: Four persons committed suicide in different parts of the district over the last 24 hours.

Four persons committed suicide in different parts of the district over the last 24 hours.

In the first incident, a 22-year-old youth committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan in Amarpura Basti. Deceased Swaranjeet Singh also made a video of his suicide. According to the police, the victim was upset for the last few days due to some family problems. Harnek Singh, in-charge of Wardhman police post, said proceedings had been done under Section 174 of the CrPC.

The second case was reported in Gopal Nagar, where Jasbir Singh (28) was upset because he had no child even after a few years of marriage. Jasbir hung himself from a fan at his home. Investigating officer Dharam Singh said the victim worked as an electrician. He is survived by his wife, parents and a younger brother.

In another case, Gagandeep Singh (23), a resident of Guru ki Nagri, committed suicide by jumping in front of a train on the Bathinda-Ambala railway track near the ITI chowk last night. His body was found by GRP personnel this morning. Victim’s brother Rajbir Singh told the GRP that his brother was mentally upset.

In the fourth case, a person committed suicide on the Bathinda-Dabwali railway track by jumping in front of a train at Pathrala village. The victim has been identified as Jasbir Singh, a resident of Gogar village in Muktsar district.

According to kin, Jasbir was under stress due to losses in business. — TNS
