Bathinda: The Punjab Government has issued a notification to dissolve all Sub-Divisional Grievances Committees in the state and has approved to re-establish these committees and nominate new non-official members. The spokesman said the term of these new committees would be of three years but the government could dissolve or cancel them at any time. It can also cancel the nomination of the nominated members any time. The main work of these committees would be to timely resolve public grievances. These committees will act as a link between the government and the public. TNS
2 bikes stolen from workshop
Bathinda: Two motorcycles were stolen from a workshop. Jeet Singh, a resident of Gehri Buttar village, has filed a complaint that some unidentified persons broke into his workshop and stole two motorbikes, bearing number RJ 13 SH 2155 and PB 02 AR 0375. The police have registered a case against the unidentified persons at Nandgarh police station. TNS
2 held with 5-kg poppy husk
Bathinda: The police have arrested two persons with five kg of poppy husk. The accused have been identified as Avtar Singh and Mahinder Kaur of Bagha village. Investigating officer-cum-complainant in the case, Nirmal Singh, said a Tavera car had also been impounded as the accused were travelling in it. A case under Sections 15, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against both at Talwandi Sabo police station. TNS
Purse with cash, gold returned
Bathinda: City residents Gulzar Singh Dhindsa and his wife had forgot a purse, containing Rs 11,830 and 25 gm gold, at Pizzano restaurant. They went to the restaurant and the staff returned them the purse, with the cash and gold ornaments intact. The staff at the reception told them that their waiter saw the purse lying at a table and gave it to the management. TNS
Two motorcyclists injured
Bathinda: Two motorcycle riders were injured when their vehicle collided with a divider on the Mall Road on Sunday night. After getting information regarding the incident, volunteers of a local NGO reached the spot and took the injured to the civil hospital. The injured have been identified as Kamlesh Kumar (25) and Robin Sharma (20), both residents of Sirki Bazaar. TNS
