Bathinda, May 21

Congress councillor Raja Singh, along with his supporters, today staged a protest against Mayor Balwant Rai Nath at Chandsar Basti here.

The protesters also raised slogans against the Mayor. Raja Singh demanded a high-level probe into the recruitments that took place in the past few years.

The councillor said the recruitment scam had already rocked the civic body during its General House meeting, but till date, no probe had been conducted.

He alleged that the Mayor and other officials had misused their position and had recruited their close aides. He also demanded a probe into the recruitment of sanitation workers that took place earlier.

Talking about traffic snarls on the Bibiwala road, he said during closing hours of DAV College, a traffic snarl was a common sight on the road and commuters face a lot of problems.

Mayor Balwant Rai Nath said, “All recruitments have taken place in a transparent way in the MCB. I am ready for any kind of probe.”— TNS
