Bathinda, October 20

Unable to purchase X-ray films due to inadequate funds, the lone digital X-ray machine of Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital here is lying non-functional for the last two months, causing inconvenience to patients. The machine was purchased at a cost of Rs 25 lakh.

Sushma Devi, a patient, said, “Due to its non-working, we have to wait for more than an hour to get the X-ray done manually.”

Joginder Singh, another attendant accompanying a patient said, “I have been coming to the hospital with my mother continuously for the last three days only to get the X-ray done.”

Moreover, the presence of a large number of persons outside the X-ray department makes it impossible for the patients to wait for their turn, he added.

An employee on condition of anonymity said, “The digital X-ray machine is lying non-functional for the last two months. The District Health Authorities have directed the employees concerned to start the process of manual X-ray.” — TNS
