Husband, in-laws booked for murder

The Dialpura police have booked Gursewak Singh, his father and mother in a murder case of Karamjeet Kaur. She was allegedly killed by her husband Gursewak yesterday in Kotha Guru Ka village.

Gursewak was injured in a clash with the deceased’s brother last night before the incident.

He is at present hospitalised and is under police custody.

A case has been registered under Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC and Sections 25/27/54/59, Arms Act, against Gursewak, his father Major Singh and Amarjit Kaur, residents of Kotha Guru Ka on the statement of Jagseer Singh, brother of Karamjeet, a resident of Mall Ke village in Faridkot district.

As per a complaint lodged by Jagseer, his sister Karamjit got married with Gursewak 14 years ago and the couple had two children from the wedlock. For the past sometime, there were issues between the couple and Gursewak used to beat the victim. Jagseer had left his sister two days ago at her in-laws’ house. Later, Gursewak again assaulted her after which she called them to take her from there, he said.

Jagseer said yesterday he and his wife came here to take his sister with them from the village. His sister said she would not leave her children there and was taking them with her. Afterwards, Gursewak started firing with his revolver and a bullet hit the victim’s chest.

They tried to took her to a Bathinda hospital for treatment but when they reached Goniana she died.

Her autopsy has been conducted today in the local Civil Hospital.

Bathinda SSP Naveen Singla said Gursewak was injured seriously and he was admitted to a hospital. He would be arrested after his discharge from the hospital. The other accused would also be arrested soon.
