While leaders and representatives of political parties have gone overboard in complaining against one or the other candidate for violation of the model code of conduct, in Maur constituency, it’s different — residents have taken it upon themselves to report violations.
Returning Officer of the constituency, Latif Ahmed, said eight complaints had been filed here, all of them by common people.
Today, four complaints were registered with the RO. In one of the complaints, a resident said parties were using electricity poles to display their flag, which was a violation of the code.
Another complaint was registered against a Powercomm junior engineer for not listening to the common man and working under political pressure.
Irritated with the defacement of walls of houses and shops, two residents of Maur constituency complained that without taking consent of the owners, all parties were pasting promotional material on the walls of their private properties.
Earlier, two residents complained that they had applied for voter cards but had not received them yet.
A few days ago, residents had also complained that members of various parties were violating the model code of conduct to lure voters.
“Till now, Maur has been peaceful and no complaint against any party lodged by another party has been filed. All complaints filed till now have been by residents of the constituency. We have disposed of all earlier complaints and are working on the complaints which we received today,” said Returning Officer-cum- Maur SDM, Latif Ahmed.
