Bathinda, August 12

Putting an end to all wait, two male and one female leopard have arrived at the Bir Talab zoo.

They have been brought from Chattbir Zoo in Mohali district. The authorities have shifted them to different cages.

Visitors have to wait for another three weeks till the leopards get habitual to the new environment.

According to a source, the leopards were irritated and it took some time for the forest employees to familiarise them with the new guests.

Sukhpreet Kaur, a visitor to the zoo, said, “At last, the leopards have arrived at the zoo. It has increased the excitement among the kids. However, keeping security in mind, the authorities haven’t allowed us to see the big cats. We will again come to the zoo next month to see them.”

Ranjna Kumari, a student, said, “We often see leopards on television and computers. This is for the first time that we will be able to see them alive in front of us. The excitement level is so high that we have got goosebumps.”

District forest officer Harbhajan Singh said, “There were speculations among the media as well as people about the arrival of big cats. Finally, we brought them. It is a huge achievement from the tourism point of view. Now, there is a possibility of receiving high number of visitors at the zoo.”
