Liquor vends’ allotment called off

BATHINDA: The allotment of liquor vends through lottery draw, which was scheduled for March 29, will not be held on that date.

The allotment of liquor vends through lottery draw, which was scheduled for March 29, will not be held on that date.

The Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner said since no application regarding allotment of liquor vends was received till March 27, the auction would not be held on March 29.

Harish Garg, a liquor contractor, said if the government allotted the liquor vends individually, then more people would have got chance but at present, the government is giving liquor vends in groups.

Moreover, the contractor had to bear losses in this business this year, due to which there is a fear among them and they are not coming up to take vends.
