Man arrested for forging verification documents

BATHINDA: The Rama police arrested a shopkeeper from Phullokhari village on Thursday for forging police verification documents of labourers working at Guru Gobind Singh Refinery.

The Rama police arrested a shopkeeper from Phullokhari village on Thursday for forging police verification documents of labourers working at Guru Gobind Singh Refinery. The accused has been identified as Gurmail Singh, a resident of Singhpura village in Haryana. A case has been registered under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC. According to police sources, if someone is selected for a job in refinery, police verification is a must. The accused, Gurmail, who owns a mobile shop near the refinery, started making fake police verification certificates sometime ago. According to the police, the accused had scanned and saved original documents of some of the workers. Later, he started selling scanned documents to other job aspirants in the refinery. Krishan Singh, Investigating Officer, said the accused was charging Rs 125 per certificate from the labourers. Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap and arrested Gurmail. The police seized a computer and a scanner from the shop of the accused. He was produced in a Talwandi Sabo court, which sent him to judicial custody. Earlier too, the police had arrested three persons for making fake medical certificate for job aspirants at the refinery last month.
