Mobile phone seized from jail inmate

BATHINDA: Once again security arrangements at the Central Jail have come under scanner following the recovery of a mobile phone and a battery from an inmate of the jail located at Gobindpura in the district on Wednesday.

Once again security arrangements at the Central Jail have come under scanner following the recovery of a mobile phone and a battery from an inmate of the jail located at Gobindpura in the district on Wednesday.

A checking was carried out by the jail authorities on Wednesday. The jail superintendent, in a complaint lodged with at the Cantt police station, said the authorities were conducting a checking inside the jail when they recovered the items.

Investigating officer Darshan Singh said a case under Section 188 of the IPC and Section 52 of the Prison Act, 1894, had been registered against jail inmate Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Baghwali village, at the Cantt police station on the basis of the complaint lodged by the jail superintendent.
