Not an easy week for Bathinda police

BATHINDA: The previous week was difficult for the Bathinda police due to lynching of a young man, Vinod Kumar, alias Sonu Arora, in Bhagi Vander village as the situation worsened in the village after the incident.

The previous week was difficult for the Bathinda police due to lynching of a young man, Vinod Kumar, alias Sonu Arora, in Bhagi Vander village as the situation worsened in the village after the incident.

After a protest by the victim’s family, the police have booked 13 accused, including the sarpanch of the village and her two sons.

Police personnel in a large number had also been deployed in the village throughout the week and the kin of the deceased had threatened the police that if the accused were not arrested, they would commit suicide. However, no accused has been arrested till date.

Man injured in clash

A clash has been erupted between a staff of a wine contractor and a liquor smuggler at Chugge Khurad village and the police have registered a case against Gurlal Singh and Gurjant Singh. Gurjant is an employee of a wine contractor and they claimed that Gurlal was a liquor smuggler.

Both parties fired against each other and Gurlal was injured in the firing. However, the Nandgarh police have registered a case against Gurlal.

His family said the police have booked only Gurlal in the case and threatened the police if Gurjant and other accused were not arrested, they would hold a protest.

Meanwhile, The Bathinda police have registered around 50 cases under the Excise Act in the previous week.

Transporters clash

Two cases had been registered at the Balianwali police station against two groups of transporters in Goniana Mandi for indulging in a clash. However, no arrest has been made by the police.

No headway in bank robbery case

The Bathinda police have failed to get any clue in the Co-Operative Bank robbery incident in Tiyona village even after a month. A case has been registered against unidentified accused.

The police had also got a CCTV camera footage from the bank. However, no arrest has been made in the case.

Gangster held

The team of the CIA-2 have nabbed a gangster, Arjun Singh, alias Rajveer Singh, a close aide of notorious gangster Gorru Bacha from Buladewala village. A case has been registered in this regard.
