One held with Rs 80 lakh heroin

Barnala: The CIA arrested a person and confiscated 250 gm heroin worth around Rs 80 lakh from near Khudi Kalan on Wednesday night. As per sources, after getting information about the alleged attempts of smugglers to supply heroin in Barnala from New Delhi, a CIA team led by sub-inspector Kuldeep Singh nabbed Jagsir Singh with his Swift car from near Khudi Kalan and seized 250 gm heroin. The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act. “The market value of the heroin is around Rs 80 lakh.  Jagsir already has two other cases under the NDPS Act registered against him,” said Baljit Singh, CIA in-charge. Cong protests rising inflation

Barnala: Congress leaders on Thursday protested at Handiaya tempo stand and burnt an effigy of the BJP government over rising inflation. “The BJP has been favouring big companies by increasing the rates of everything,” alleged Gurjit Singh, political secretary to former Barnala MLA Kewal Singh. TNS
