Drivers of an Orbit bus and a school van were issued challans for drunken driving at Fauji Chowk here on last night. DSP traffic Gurjit Singh Romana said three challans of drunken driving were issued.
He said the traffic police would intensify their drive to issue challans for drunken driving in the city. He advised the drivers not to mix driving and drinking.
According to World Health Organisation, the immediate effects of alcohol on the brain are either depressing or stimulating in nature, depending on the quantity consumed. Either way, alcohol results impairment which increases the likelihood of a crash since it produces poor judgement, increased reaction time, lower vigilance and decreased visual acuity. — TNS
