Bathinda, December 8
Members of the panchayat and residents of Kotshamir village today approached the district administration to intervene and stop the planned construction of a building by the Nirankari Mission in the village.
Submitting a memorandum pertaining to the issue, the village residents said since a majority of the population of the village was Sikh, construction of a Nirankari Bhawan could disturb peaceful atmosphere at the village.
Nirmal Singh, president of the nagar panchayat, accompanied by councillors Rajinder Singh, Jagdev Singh, Harjeet Kaur, Rani Kaur, Sukhwinder Kaur, Ramandeep Kaur and residents of the village, requested the administration to intervene as they had received information that the mission was planning to construct a prayer house in the village. — TNS
