Bathinda, February 16

On a call given by the PSEB Employees Joint Forum Punjab, members of the forum held a convention of West Zone at Teachers’ Home here today. Pritam Singh and Balkar Singh Bhullar presided over the convention.

Calling upon the employees of government-run thermal plants to come together and make the struggle a success, the forum leaders urged the employees to support the fight to save the thermal plants and make the future actions a success.

They also announced that members of the forum, along with the employees of the thermal plants will begin their “Work to rule” protest and would not do any work assigned to them which is not part of their job profile and work responsibilities. They added that they would follow this till March 31 and in case the state government continued to ignore their demands then the employees will intensify their stir.

They also pointed out that on the orders of the state government, 230 regular employees of Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant, who were working as helpers at the plant were now being transferred and given field work which they have never done earlier. They argued that since the work being assigned to them didn’t match their experience, the transfers were unacceptable.
