Recover misappropriated cash & gold soon, directs IGP

BATHINDA:Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bathinda Zone, Mukhwinder Singh Chhina has issued instructions to recover the cash and other items misappropriated from the ‘maalkhana’ at Rama police station at the earliest.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bathinda Zone, Mukhwinder Singh Chhina has issued instructions to recover the cash and other items misappropriated from the ‘maalkhana’ at Rama police station at the earliest.

A case was registered yesterday after an order from the IGP as it had come to his notice that property registered in FIR No. 122 that said Rs 4.11 lakh, 3,090 Canadian dollars, 11,624 US dollars, gold jewellery, a revolver with 27 rounds and an arms licence recovered from accused Mangal Singh Sandhu has been misappropriated from the Rama police station. 

On December 28, 2016, additional SHO, Rama Mandi, ASI Budh Ram, along with reader Jugraj Singh, conducted a check of the ‘maalkhana’. 

It was found that cash and other items which had been recovered from the Mohali residence of Mangal Singh Sandhu, former director, Agriculture, when he was in custody of the Rama police in 2015 in connection with the pesticide scam, were missing.

Former SHO Gursher Singh, head constable Iqbal Singh and constable Manpreet Singh have been booked in this case at the Rama police station on the basis of the statement of SHO Manoj Kumar.
